This expedition starts early in the day from Puerto Jiménez on a 45 km car journey along the coast, rivers, mountains, and jungle to Playa Carate. During this car ride, you will enjoy the sunrise and view different landscapes of the Osa Peninsula. Upon arrival in Carate, the journey continues with a 3.5 km walk on the beach until you reach La Leona Station.
From there you will be guided along a trail in Corcovado National Park where your guide will help you see and photograph so many amazing and inspirational wildlife, insects, and birds. This will be an experience of the senses that leaves visitors in awe of the immense diversity and true wonders of this natural treasure, Corcovado National Park.
Located in the heart of the Corcovado National Park, Sirena Biological Station is the last frontier of the Costa Rican Amazon, its trails are home to the largest natural treasure in Costa Rica. Walking along its trails means being able to easily see many of the most elusive and threatened animals of the neotropics. Its trails are ideal for wildlife photographers and nature lovers who want to know the wildest depths of Costa Rica.
Easy Level

Explore the heart of the Corcovado National Park for a full day. This tour starts early in the morning with a 2 .5 hour boat ride during which you may see turtles, dolphins, and even humpback whales in their migratory season. For 4 hours you and your guide will explore the most famous trails of Sirena Biological Station. An ideal tour for people who have little time and want to see as many animals as possible in one day.
Enjoy 2 or 3 days inside the heartland of the gorgeous Corcovado National Park. The overnight expeditions start early from Puerto Jiménez to Sirena Biological Station. There are two ways to get access to Sirena Biological Station: along the desolated coastlines by boat or by car through rivers, mountains, and jungle.
If you favor long hikes over 20 km (approximately 7 or 8 hours) inside the tropical rainforest, this overnight tour could be an amazing option for you. This is a long, guided trek through some of the most beautiful rainforests in the world.

Medium Level
Cost: $760 per person
The walk begins in La Leona towards the Sirena Biological Station where you will spend the night amongst the sounds and sights of the rainforest. On the second day, you and your guide will explore the trails of the Corcovado National Park. For the third day, enjoy the beautiful hike from Sirena Ranger Station toward La Leona.
Medium Level
Cost: $760 per person
Start the walk in La Leona towards the Sirena Biological Station where visitors enjoy an overnight stay in the rainforest. On the second day, you will walk the trails of the Corcovado National Park with your expert guide. On the third day, you will leave by boat to the pier in Puerto Jiménez.
Another option is to leave Puerto Jiménez on the first day by boat to the Sirena Station, the trails and riches of the Corcovado National Park are explored on the first and second days, and on the third day you hike from the Sirena Station towards La Leona.
Medium Level
Cost: $499 per person
For this expedition it is recommended to leave Puerto Jiménez by boat in the early hours of the morning to be able to enjoy the trails near the Sirena Biological Station inside Corcovado National Park. After an overnight stay in the rainforest, you and your guide will journey back on foot through the rainforest to La Leona, taking in all of the beauty and wonder along the way.
Certified guided tours
All visitors must enter the reserve accompanied by a guide certified by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT), provided by the BioSur Foundation, or through an affiliated tour operator or agency.
Minimum visitor requirement
For guided tours of the Foundation, a minimum of two visitors is required. If there is only one visitor, the cost equivalent to that of two people must be covered.
Reservation Protocol
Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. To secure your reservation, please contact us via email at info@biosurcorcovado.org or via WhatsApp at 85597625. Please provide the names of all visitors. A reservation will be confirmed upon payment of 100% of the value of the service.
Excluded services
The cost of the tour or entrance does not cover the cost of water, food, accommodation or transportation.
Transportation guidelines
Only 4×4 vehicles are allowed. Transportation can be arranged through BioSur or visitors can use their own 4×4 vehicles to enter.

Pricing structure
The specified rates are applicable to the following activities: Day Walks (6am – 12pm), Night Walk (5pm – 8pm), Bird Watching (5am – 11am) and Butterfly Tour (7am – 1pm).

Cancellation policy
Climate and natural disasters
Tours are subject to weather conditions or natural disasters. In the event that the tour cannot be executed, a credit note will be issued annually.
No Show Policy
No refunds will be provided if visitors do not show up at the agreed meeting point for the tour or for transportation to the tour location.
